Cha Cha Slide

At times, my life feels like a live version of the “Cha Cha Slide”.  It seems, when I’ve taken a few steps in the right direction, as it relates to getting aligned with my goals, something devastating (well at least in my mind) happens and I have to take a few steps backward.  I’ve noticed, at times, my setbacks cause me to slide to right and then slide to the left.  However, I’ve come to realize lateral moves are not necessarily a bad thing.  Lateral moves can be viewed as a mechanism that allows you to reposition yourself for the next move forward.  Of course, when I think I have it figured out, here comes, “take it back now ya’ll” (screaming), where is “two hops this time” when you need it!

Life has its way of taking you through ups and down but your perception of it all will determine if you keep dancing or get off the dance floor.  As I continue to explore life’s surprises (are they really surprises…another blog topic), I’ve learned to view my circumstances differently.  I’ve learned sometimes I have to take a step back in order to reflect on the lesson before the blessing.  I’ve learned  strategically planned lateral moves are needed for repositioning or maneuvering around roadblocks I’ve  identified while going down the previous path.  I’ve learned finding a silver lining isn’t always easy, but one definitely exists and this little bit of hope is what keeps me going.

Finally, the moment has come, “Three Hops this Time, “Three Hops this Time”, “Three Hops this Time” and I’m really doing something when I hear “Reverse”.  This the time for reflection and gratitude for all the things God has brought me through, surely you didn’t think I did it alone. Nope!

The moral of the story:  Although, the Cha Cha Slide seems to be the longest song ever…..stay on the dance floor…..push through the perspiration and accelerated heart rate until you finish the song. One day you will look back on your life and realize it was all worth it.

Stay Encouraged!
